Global Day of Service

Lincoln is taking part in Earth Day’s Global Days of Service by organizing three volunteer opportunities on April 17. Clean up a local stream or discuss the importance of recycling with Husker football fans. Volunteers will receive Earth Day t-shirts for their efforts.

Stream Clean-up at Antelope Park
Shift 1: 10 a.m. – Noon
Shift 2: Noon - 2 p.m.

Shift 3: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Keep our local streams beautiful and healthy by participating in a stream clean-up or mark storm drains to create public awareness of stormwater drainage. Single or group volunteers are welcomed. Learn more and register at www.lincoln.ne.gov, keyword: stream.

Go Green for Big Red at the Spring Game

Shift 1: 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Shift 2: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Support your Huskers and the environment! Hand out recycling bags to tailgaters outside of Memorial Stadium on the first shift and collect them shortly before kick-off on the second. (Volunteer for one shift or both.) Contact Kelly Heavey at Kheavey@lincoln.ne.gov


Plant trees at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo
Shift 1: 10 a.m. - Noon
Shift 2: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Help the environment and support your local zoo! Volunteers are needed to plant 1.5” caliper trees throughout the zoo. Tools will be provided. Contact Isaac Fuenning at Ifuenning@Lincolnzoo.org
